South African media personality DJ Sbu has said a collaboration with one-time collaborator DJ Cleo might be on the cards again after the two briefly united at a recent festival organised by the Mofaya founder.
DJ Sbu and Cleo made a formidable pair at TS Records at the turn of the century, as they ushered in stars such as Brown Dash and Mzekezeke, at a time when the label established a reputation as the home of stars.
However, after the release of Brown Dash’s debut Puff N Pass album, the working relationship between the two allegedly went sour and it has reportedly never recovered since then.
Cleo was among the guests who played at DJ Sbu’s SA podcast and Music Festival at Emperors Palace last Saturday.
In an interview with TshisaLive, DJ Sbu said that there was a possibility that the two might bury the hatchet and work together again in future.
“DJ Cleo is my brother, and we created good music together, I wouldn’t rule out the possibility of doing music with him again.
“Recently that’s the question a lot of people have asked me, if we’d go back in the studio to work on music again. He is super-talented.”
DJ Sbu, who now works alongside Cleo at Radio 2000, hailed his event as an eye-opener for various players in the broadcast sector.
“The event has proven a lot of people are starting or aspiring to be podcasters. As a radio DJ and podcaster I felt I had to host such an event to educate and empower the youth on doing podcast shows,” he said. Telly Africa
