SOUTH AFRICA – The Zimbabwe national team, the Warriors, on Monday conducted their first training session in South Africa ahead of their World Cup qualifier match against Lesotho this Friday.
“First training session done! The Warriors conducted a light training session this morning (Monday) under the watchful eye of the technical team,” ZIFA confirmed in a post via Facebook.
The “light training session” followed after Warriors interim head coach Jairos Tapera held his first meeting with the present squad in the morning.
“Setting the tone for an important week for the Warriors. Head Coach Jairos Tapera conducting his first team meeting,” ZIFA had previously posted.

The rest of the squad is in camp except for defenders Teenage Hadebe and Brendan Galloway.
Galloway is said to be undergoing rehabilitation after suffering a recurrence of an injury.

Reports also suggest Hadebe excused himself to seal a deal with his new club following the expiry of his contract with Konyaspor in Turkey this past Friday.
The ex-Kaizer Chiefs defender is set to to join others in camp on Tuesday.
