HARARE – Premier Soccer League (PSL) giants CAPS United have apologised to their club legends and other stakeholders for the difficulties they faced entering Rufaro Stadium during their match against city rivals Dynamos on Sunday.
The Green Machine issued a statement on Monday, acknowledging the “embarrassment and frustration” that these important figures went through.
“Our sincerest apologies to the CAPS Legends and all other valuable stakeholders who faced stadium entry challenges including those who failed to enter at all despite their efforts.
“We understand the embarrassment and frustration you encountered and it greatly concerns us. Control systems which were used were strict and beyond our control as CAPS United.
“Efforts are being put in place to engage all the relevant authorities so that this kind of humiliation won’t happen again,” wrote CAPS United.
According to former club legend Alois Bunjira, one of the club legends denied entry on Sunday was former defender Dumisani Mpofu.
This has always been the case in the PSL countrywide, where the country’s football legends and other important figures go through embarrassment and frustrations to enter stadias.
Few years ago, Warriors legends Peter Ndlovu and Benjani Mwaruwari were denied access to enter Barbourfields Stadium.
The latter scaled the durawall to force himself into the arena while Ndlovu deliberately left his car at the entry point (gate) where team buses and other VIP or VVIP staff vehicles uses.
The matter was then resolved.
