Former Zimbabwe Warriors players Elvis Chipezeze and Edmore Chirambadare on Sunday helped Magesi FC to secure promotion to the DStv Premiership in South Africa.
Magesi’s 3-1 win over Milford FC at the Old Peter Mokaba Stadium saw Magesi being crowned the Motsepe Foundation Championship winners.
Magesi FC’s automatic promotion was confirmed after the second placed University of Pretoria drew 2-2 with Black Leopards, leaving the Clinton Larsen coached side leading the pack by eight points with two matches left.
Both Chipezeze and Chirambadare who once played together at Chicken Inn, took to their social media platforms to celebrate their promotion to the elite league.
“We are the champions,” Chipezeze, the former Baroka FC goalkeeper posted on Facebook.
Ex-Kaizer Chiefs winger Chirambadare who celebrated the triumph with a biblical quote, also posted on Facebook.
“When the time is right, I the Lord will make it happen. Isaiah 60:22,” he wrote.
Charambadare’s goal and a Wonderboy Hlongwane brace were enough for the Clinton Larsen coached side to gain promotion to the DStv Premiership.
Magesi were in their second season in the Motsepe Foundation, South Africa’s First Division after being promoted from the ABC Motsepe League in 2021.
Meanwhile, Ishmael Wadi’s JDR Stars are in the battle for promotion as they are in the mix to book a playoff place.
The Hammers are two points adrift of second placed University of Pretoria with two games left to complete the season.
