Police in Zimbabwe release names of 11 victims from road accident in Beatrice

CHIKOMBA – The Zimbabwe Republic Police has released the names of 11 road accident victims killed near Beatrice along the Masvingo – Harare Road on Friday.

The number of victims rose from 15 to 16 after another passenger from the Kombi Sprinter died upon admission at Chitungwiza Hospital.

It has now been established that the deceased are members of the St Angels Family Apostolic Church who were on their way to a church camping at Makumimavi Shrine just outside Chivhu.

Some families had more than two deceased according to names emerging from the list.

The 11 are Kelly Kwenda (3), Elisha Jack(6), Elija Jack Tawananyasha (5), Ezra Jack (1), Prudence Mahachi (31), Talent Rangwa (23), Leeroy Kido (8), Lloyd Kido (4), Eimond Ncube (18) Joyce Mutsinzwa (44) and Decision Maizivei (26).

The accident involved three vehicles.

A truck tried to overtake a VW Polo and hit it from behind and encroached into the other lane resulting a in a head–on collision with the sprinter kombi carrying 44 passengers.

National Police spokesperson Paul Nyathi urged motorists to be observant on roads and adhere to speed limits.
