The Sir Alex Ferguson of Sungura.. Macheso praised for disciplining Majuice

HARARE – Sungura ace Alick Macheso has earned praise from academic and author Charlton Tsodzo for disciplining Orchestra Mberikwazvo member, Majuice, likening his actions to that of legendary Manchester United gaffer Sir Alex Ferguson.

Majuice was recently suspended by Macheso after repeated incidents of arriving late for shows.

The final straw reportedly came during Macheso’s recent tour in Masvingo, where Majuice’s late arrival caused a significant delay in his appearance on stage.

In a post on Facebook, Tsodzo said Macheso was in the right for reading the riot act to his most popular dancer.

“I think Baba Sharo Alick Macheso’s management style is inspired by Manchester United legend Sir Alex Ferguson … brutal, efficient and effective.

“The way he handled the persistent indiscipline of his top dancer and choreographer Majuice… who in my view was definitely becoming too big for his shoes…reminds me of how Sir Alex brutally dealt with ‘untouchable’ celebrity players such as David Beckham and Ruud van Nistelrooy back in the day…

“and even more interesting … Macheso chose a national platform .. the Independence celebrations in Murambinda to show Majuice that no one was irreplaceable,” Tsodzo wrote.

The author also gave credit to Macheso for not losing a step as he replaced Majuice with another dancer.

“Cheso brought in a dancer with almost the same built as Majuice, nearly similar hairstyle and in my view even better moves to take the position usually occupied by Majuice and be the star of the show instead.

“And I hope the message was loud and clear to Majuice … munhu wese ane replacement no one is indispensable.. am shuwa akadzoswa kuBand revanhu haazvipamhe futi,” he said.

In a video that circulated on social media last week, Majuice issued an apology to fans, management, and band leader Macheso.

“I want to sincerely apologise to the fans, my fellow band members, the management team, and especially to Father Macheso,” Majuice said in the video.

“I acknowledge that I made a mistake that let the band down. Missing those critical hours caused confusion among the fans.”
