Prophet Magaya’s The Heart Stadium gets green light to host PSL matches

HARARE – Prophet Walter Magaya’s recently constructed stadium, The Heart Stadium, has been granted permission by the Zimbabwe Football Association’s First Instance Body (ZIFA FIB) to host Premier Soccer League (PSL) matches, starting this weekend.

This comes after an inspection by the FIB at the 5 000 seater stadium on Thursday.

According to an insider, the facility boasting a state-of-the-art playing surface with a suspended underground drainage system is now eligible for top-flight league fixtures.

The first PSL fixture at the venue is set to be between Yadah FC and Simba Bhora in what is a potential derby match.

“Yes, The Heart Stadium has been granted permission to host PSL games. The facility will this Saturday see Yadah hosting Simba Bhora,” the source told Nehanda Radio.

The Heart Stadium was officially opened by President Emmerson Mnangagwa in December 2023 after four months of its initial construction.

The facility recently scored big, hosting Mozambique’s reigning champions, Clube Ferroviário da Beira, for their pre-season training.

According to plans outlined by Magaya during the stadium’s construction phase and official opening, The Heart Stadium’s capacity is set to expand to a 40,000 seater in the future.

The football mad prophet also revealed that his vision extends beyond hosting PSL matches.

He outlined that his desire is for the stadium to become a regular venue for the Zimbabwe national team games and CAF international competitions.
