Byo Chiefs coach Sibanda believes Khama Billiat is being ‘misused’

Bulawayo Chiefs coach Thulani Sibanda believes star midfielder Khama Billiat is being ‘misused’ at Yadah FC where he is being played as a centre forward instead of a winger.

Sibanda made the comment after his side’s 3-1 victory over Yadah on Easter Monday at Luveve Stadium.

His comment came after he was asked during a post match media briefing if he had assigned one of his charges to man mark the gifted lanky talisman.

In response, the former Triangle United coach who feels Billiat’s talent is being ‘wasted’ by playing him in the center forward position told journalists:

“…Not necessarily because in terms of where they place him (Billiat) he is not dangerous. They place him as a twin striker but if he was wide, he was going to be dangerous and we were going to assign someone (to man mark him).

“Where they place him (centre forward) they try to play long balls to him but he doesn’t have the height, so we didn’t man mark him because he wasn’t on the wing where he is very dangerous.

“If they had pulled him wide, we were going to assign someone to mark him because he is very tricky (on the wings) but if he is playing as a central forward he is just an ordinary player,” he said.

Thuts believes Billiat’s strengths lies on the flanks, where he can utilize his skill and take on defenders.

Then on the other hand, Yadah coach Thomas Ruzive said they are “working on Billiat’s fitness levels” after the 33-year-old spent nearly a year without a club after leaving Kaizer Chiefs in June 2023 before joining Yadah in January.

Billiat is yet to score or assist for the Miracle Boys in close to 360 minutes.
