Mliswa who is also known for his advocacy against drug abuse, described his daughter as “a brilliant kid” who has strayed from the path he set for his other children. He detailed attempts to guide her future at 18, which she allegedly refused.

While acknowledging the complexities of the situation, Mliswa reiterated his firm belief in the fight against drugs. He advocated for stricter penalties for drug offenses, including those committed by politicians, comparing drug dealing to attempted murder.

“Being an advocate against drug abuse and a parent again it could be a frustrating time. However I reiterate my position that drugs are bad and we have to fight them. If it requires arresting culprits then so be it as it may be one way to save them from themselves.

“The penalties for those who sell, even politicians, should even be stiffer as they endanger other people. Peddling drugs should be equated with attempted murder as the path of drug use is one highway to death.

“I have seen children in a mess because of drug use,” Mliswa posted on his official X account.

Mliswa commended law enforcement for their efforts in tackling the drug problem and expressed hope that this arrest will serve as a turning point for his daughter.

He pledged his continued support for her rehabilitation and urged her to find new companions, free from negative influences.

Drawing from his experience working with rehabilitation organizations, Mliswa emphasized the importance of a balanced approach, combining love and discipline. He stressed his commitment to supporting not only his own children but also the community’s youth.

Mliswa further emphasised his adherence to the law, refusing to exploit his connections for personal gain. He expressed his belief that the legal system can effectively rehabilitate his daughter and help her become a better person.

“We have to be strong against drug and substance abuse. Even as a public person I won’t abuse the access I have to many people and offices to subvert the path of the law but will allow it to work and rehabilitate her to emerge a better person,” he said.

The public statement by Mliswa has sparked discussions about drug abuse, parental guidance, and the importance of second chances.
