Radio presenter Thandeka Hilda Chitombo, also known as Ndeka-T on air, has been remanded in custody after she was busted for impersonating a Central Intelligence Officer (CIO).
Ndeka-T initially appeared in court last Saturday, with the matter remanded to Monday for bail hearing. She was further remanded in custody after her lawyer, Tinashe Dzvore applied for a postponement, which was granted by the State.
She is facing impersonation charges as defined in section 179 of the Criminal Law (Codification and Reform) Act chapter 9:23.
It is alleged that while undergoing training at Platinum FM last year, Ndeka-T presented her credentials as an intelligence agent to the station’s manager Davies Mugadza, narrating that she was deployed from the President’s Office.

In order to authenticate her story, the radio personality allegedly presented a fake identity document that she said proved that she was involved in a covert mission at the station.
Mugadza then contacted the CIO’s offices in Chinhoyi to confirm her credentials but requesting time to investigate, the President’s Office contacted Mugadza and disowned the radio personality.
The accused was arrested last Thursday at the station’s Chinhoyi offices, with a further search of her residence in Ruvimbo Phase 1, Chinhoyi, yielding two fake Zanu PF party cards purporting she was a Central Committee member for Mashonaland West and Central provinces.
