Just three days after his arrival in the Belgian top flight, Warriors defender Munashe Garananga wasted no time making his mark for KV Mechelen, earning a debut in their narrow 1-0 victory over AS Eupen on Sunday.
Garananga was thrown into the fray as a second-half substitute just past the hour mark, with the score locked at 0-0.
One minute later, Daam Foulon netted the winning goal in the 64th minute.
The 22-year-old’s introduction helped solidify Mechelen’s backline, defending the solitary goal which saw them pick up the crucial three points on the road.
Garananga who also made his senior national team debut in November 2023, signed a three-year deal with Mechelen.
He was officially unveiled by the club on its social media platforms on Thursday following his arrival from FC Sheriff Tiraspol in Moldova.
This move reunited Garananga with fellow Zimbabwean and former Prince Edward High schoolmate, Bill Antonio.
Antonio who made headlines recently after netting two goals in three weeks for the senior team, is also at the club.
