Maritzburg United decide not to sign clubless Kuda Mahachi after trials

After spending half a year inactive from football following allegations of child abuse and attempted murder, Warriors speedy winger Kuda Mahachi is likely set to continue searching for a club.

Mahachi, 30, who got acquitted of two serious cases recently, was trying his luck with the DStv Premiership side Maritzburg United, however, the club has decided against signing the clubless ex-Orlando Pirates player.

The Zimbabwean international is said to have failed to impress the Team of Choice head coach Fadlu Davids leading to the club rejecting him.

Mahachi is looking forward to return to the field of play after being released by SuperSport United at the end of last season due to his court cases.

He has has been under assessment at Maritzburg since December following his acquittal, nonetheless he reportedly failed to impress the club’s coaches.

South African publication iDiskiTimes was quoted saying: “The Team of Choice (Maritzburg United) have decided not to sign the Zimbabwe international (Mahachi), as he didn’t impress coach Fadlu Davids enough.

“Mahachi was not part of the list of players signed by the club when they unveiled them on Thursday, as they confirmed the signing of Kwame Peprah, two free agents in Bradley Cross and Ali Meza.”

Nkembe as Mahachi is nicknamed moved to South Africa during the 2014/15 season when he signed for Mamelodi Sundowns from Chicken Inn.
