Alpha Media Holdings editor-in-chief Wisdom Mdzungairi resigns

Alpha Media Holdings editor-in-chief Wisdom Mdzungairi has reportedly resigned following allegations that he had a second job at the Ministry of Local Government, effectively making him a civil servant.

The NewsHawks reported that Mdzungairi who was also NewsDay editor resigned after an internal row over a scandal involving a secret deal in which he held two jobs, including one at government for payment, in violation of his contract and media ethics.

AMH chief executive Kenias Mafukidze told the publication that they had an agreement with the outgoing staff member.

“I will not comment on that issue. He was working for us; what we had was just an arrangement. I’m not going to comment on the whole issue,” he said.

Contacted for comment Mdzungairi said: “You know I’m not a newsmaker, right? Call me after 20 minutes.”
