Warriors star Marshall Munetsi appointed into influential FIFPRO council
Zimbabwean international and Stade de Reims midfielder Marshall Munetsi has been appointed into the influential FIFPRO Global Players Council, the organization announced on Wednesday.
FIFPRO is a global union for professional football players tasked to defend the rights and interests of their fellow colleagues (65,000 players) via a network of 66 national associations.
It is a “platform for professional footballers to shape their industry on a global scale” through representing active players with international experience, ensuring viewpoints from men’s and women’s football and different leagues from around the world are heard.
The organization took to its Twitter account yesterday to announce the appointment of Munetsi and two other females in Nigerian as well as Kenyan women’s football stars Rasheedat Ajibade and Enez Mango respectively.
“#FIFPRO is proud to welcome three new additions to the #GlobalPlayerCouncil, a platform for professional footballers to shape their industry on a global scale. Rasheedat Ajibade, Enez Mango and Marshall Munetsi,” reads the FIFPRO tweet.
Reacting to the appointment, Munetsi who expressed his delight wrote on his social media handles.
“Being a part of the Global Player Council means we can help footballers worldwide – such as protecting players against fake agents, or against government interference. I’m eager to get started,” he posted on Facebook.
