The first column is the product description, the second column is the unit of measurement and the third and last column has the amount of units that UBH consumes per month per product.

Whilst we are grappling with Cyclone Idai, let us remember that these referral hospitals will be the last points of treatment for citizens that are seriously ill.

So let us look at the lists that I have put out so far for UBH, Harare and Parirenyatwa Hospitals and see where we can help them in order for doctors and nurses to be able to do their work.

Once our website is ready we will also post this information for your easy accessing.

We will also post the hospital lists on the SOHZ Telegraph Group in PDF form.

A little bit of United Bulawayo Hospitals

The United Bulawayo Hospitals (UBH) is situated in the Eastern part of the city of Bulawayo.
It is one of two principal referral hospitals for the Southern part of Zimbabwe.

The hospital also serves as one of the two-referral medical institutes for an urban population of about one million people.

The United Bulawayo Hospitals was opened in 1937 at Khumalo as an extension of the Old Memorial Hospital.

The new hospital then, catered for white patients, in 1943 a General wing was also opened.
At Zimbabwe’s independence UBH had 300 beds that have now risen to 650 beds.

Currently there are plans to extend the hospital that will be done in different phases funds permitting.

It is one of the six Central Hospitals in Zimbabwe, others being Mpilo, Ingutsheni, Harare, Chitungwiza, and Parirenyatwa.

UBH services Bulawayo Metropolitan Province, Matabeleland North and South Provinces, Masvingo and Midlands Provinces.

It is called the United Bulawayo Group of Hospitals because it consists of the Main Hospital, Richard Morris Hospital, Lady Rodwell Maternity Hospital and the Robbie Gibson Hospital.

Dr Narcisious T B Dzvanga, a Specialist Physician, is the hospital’s Clinical-Director.
