Billiat missing service of Ntshangase?

Kaizer Chiefs forward Khama Billiat has spoken about his reliance on good service up front and raved about his understanding with teammate Siphelele Ntshangase.

Chiefs have scored just three goals in their last four matches in all competitions, with Billiat having found the back of the net just twice, both times in the Caf Confederation Cup, since the arrival of coach Ernst Middendorp in December.

The Zimbabwean international started out the season in fine form under former coach Giovanni Solinas, who often paired him with Ntshangase, as the two enjoyed a fruitful relationship in attack.

However, the former Baroka midfielder has managed limited game-time under the German, which has possibly limited the effectiveness of Billiat, who admits he enjoys a better understanding with the 25-year-old than some of his other teammates.

“I think the way (Ntshangase and myself) play is different than other players who might work better together,” admitted the former Mamelodi Sundowns attacker.

“I’ve got a great understanding with Ntshangase, I don’t know, maybe because we talk a lot. I believe we work together differently.

“We can’t all work together in the same way otherwise it wouldn’t help the team to have a great understanding with everyone, but I have a great understanding with Ntshangase, and he does work for me every time.”

The 28-year-old Warriors’ star also prides himself on providing and receiving quality service and says they’re currently working hard on improving that in training.

“The way you like balls to be passed to you is the same way another player expects from you, so it starts with me putting someone through with nice passes and I expect the same in return,” he added.

“We’re working on that with the guys and we hope that it will actually pay off soon.” — KickOff
