Pirates endured one of their worst seasons, finishing outside the top eight, and the side is on a rebuilding exercise hence the massive player recruitment the club has undertaken.

“Orlando Pirates Football Club can confirm that it has met with the following players Maselealo Seanego, Sello Jaftha, Roger Majafa, Lindokuhle Mtshali and Donald Makondolela, and their respective representatives and both parties have agreed to mutually terminate agreement.

“The contract of Siyanda Ngubo has come to an end and the club has decided not to renew it. The club would like to wish the players well in their future endeavours,” said the club on its official website.

Meanwhile, the Soweto giants have also responded to utterances by its former coach Kjell Jonevret on Swedish television that seemed to suggest that there was massive interference from the club’s leadership in the dressing room.

The club said not responding to Jonevret’s utterances would constitute a dereliction of duty by its management.

“It is important to note that it is Orlando Pirates policy and practice not to comment about details pertaining to the departure of its employees to avoid negatively affecting their future employment prospects. This policy is captured in a confidentiality clause on the employment contract and employee handbook the club enters into with its employees.

“Jonevret obviously respects neither the letter nor the spirit of the contract and employee handbook. The truth is that Jonevret failed his probation and Orlando Pirates FC had informed him both in a review meeting and in writing following which he tendered his resignation.

“The club would not want to divulge further into Jonevret’s shortcomings. However, it is perhaps in his concluding remark in the television interview that we can get an insight as to his state of mind.

Jonevret said: “I still feel incredibly lucky to keep up with my hobby. If any club is interested in me then I will listen to them.”

“It will help for him to realise that when he was busy pursuing a hobby, all around him were hard at work trying to return the club to its winning ways,” reads the Orlando Pirates statement. The Chronicle
