Angry ex-wife trashes Sulu’s wedding…. police whisk her away

There was drama at Suluman Chimbetu’s wedding on Saturday after his ex-wife Marygold Mutemasango stormed the ceremony and tried in vain to block the Sean Timba singer from tying the knot with Linda Samuriwo.

Mutemasango, who is mother to Suluman’s two children, stunned guests who included music superstar Oliver Mtukudzi at the classy event when she revealed that she was still legally married to the dendera music star under customary law.

Her attempts to stop the wedding ceremony were thwarted by suspected plainclothes policemen who whisked her away.

As a result of the fracas, the wedding ceremony —  scheduled to start at 11am — only got underway three hours later.

The delay saw other high profile guests such as Tuku and his wife Daisy departing from the ceremony, which took place at Zimbali Gardens in Greendale, prematurely.

Sulu was unreachable for comment.

He was said to have indeed paid lobola for Mutemasango and cohabited with her for about three years in Mabelreign.

The two were blessed with a child before they went their separate ways.

Suluman reportedly sired a second child with Mutemasango when he was already living with Samuriwo.

Despite the fracas, it still turned out to be a classy affair. Suluman arrived at Zimbali Gardens accompanied by his best man Jah Prayzah while Samuriwo was in the company of Jah Prayzah’s wife, Rufaro Chiworeso.

The bridal team included Suluman’s cousins Tryson and Douglas as well as musician-cum-dancer Franco Slomo, who briefly joined the Nyuchi singer’s Orchestra Dendera Kings after parting ways with  sungura star Alick Macheso’s Orchestra Mberikwazvo.

After the wedding ceremony, Suluman went on to unveil his latest album Jamboree — recorded at his Cockpit Studios — at Belgravia Sports Club. The event attracted a small crowd. Daily News
