Cimas members risk losing properties

Corporate 24  has renewed its feud with Cimas Medical Aid Society after it announced yesterday that it will attach properties of  the medical insurer’s members in a bid to recover an unspecified debt which it claims is long overdue.

Without specifying how much it was owed, Corporate 24 said it had exhausted all means possible to recover the debt accumulated since June last year, and was left with the option of getting the money  from patients, directly.

“Notice is hereby given to all corporate 24 Hospital Group clients on Cimas Medial Aid. Due to sustained non-payment for services rendered to you by Cimas since June 2015, it has become necessary that we recover the money directly from clients,” Corporate 24 said in a statement yesterday.

“Kindly note, this decision has not been taken lightly as we always strive to maintain healthy relationships with all our clients. Should we not receive payment within seven days of publication of this notice, please do not be offended when our debt collectors pursue recovery.”

No comment could be obtained from Cimas yesterday at it was closed for business.

Corporate 24 had announced on April 16, that it had ended its feud with Cimas after reaching an agreement on the wrangle that started in June last year after Cimas suspended Corporate 24 on its direct payment facility.

Following the breakdown of its relationship with Cimas, Corporate 24 made efforts to resolve the matter, which was later reported to the health regulator in July last year, with both parties threatening to sue each other.

The relationship was further made sour after Cimas reportedly accused Corporate 24 of making fraudulent claims, an aspect the health institution denied.

Corporate 24 accused Cimas of discouraging its members from accessing its services.

During that embargo, Cimas members could not afford to pay upfront for the services at Corporate 24 and had to seek other service providers. Daily News
