Shock as Mutsvangwa rape accuser says ‘sex was good’

A 43-year-old Harare woman accusing former War Veterans minister Chistopher Mutsvangwa’s son, Neville, of raping her yesterday told the court that she was only bitter that the latter made her eat her menstrual blood during the act.

Neville, 36, was represented by Harrison Nkomo when the trial opened before Harare regional magistrate Hosea Mujaya.

He denied the rape and indecent assault charges claiming that the woman had consented to the act but was bitter after failing to extort money from him.

The woman, a regular gambler at Borrowdale Race Course, left the court in stitches as she proffered graphic details of how her sexual encounters with Neville began.

“We first met in May at a function in Borrowdale, I was dancing and (Nevy) — referring to Neville — noticed me. He then told his male counterparts not to ask him for money as he wanted to ‘campaign’ to get me that night,” she said.

“ . . . so whenever he won $125 he would give me the $25 until the money reached a total $75. Later that night, when he was leaving, Nevy sent an unidentified man to call me and I went to his car before proceeding to his offices where we had sex,” the woman said.

“At that time, I was ‘hungry’ for sex and since I am an adult I agreed, and we enjoyed before kissing each other goodbye,” she said.

The victim said on the second incident, “Neville behaved like a possessed person” and forced her into sex although she had highlighted that she was menstruating.

The woman said she went on to remove her dress and underwear before Neville forced her to give him oral sex before raping her.

“When he pulled out and realised that there was blood on his condom, he first forced me to suck on it. He then removed the condom and still made me continue giving him oral sex. I was hurt. How could he make me ‘eat’ my own blood?”

She said reporting the matter to the police was meant to nudge Neville into apologising as she never expected the matter could be brought to court.

“I cannot read or write and do not understand English. I do not even know what the police wrote in my statement though I signed it,” the victim claimed.

“All I wanted was for Nevy to apologise for wronging me. I even told him on that day to wait for me to finish my period before we could have sex, handaimbomunyima ini hazvinyimwanwe izvi ndaamunhu mukuru ini. (I would not have refused to consent to sex, I am a grown-up).”

“ . . . but then he told me that reporting the matter would be a waste of time as he could never get arrested since his father was an influential person. He did so showing me pictures of President (Robert) Mugabe shaking hands with his father that were in his office.”

Nkomo claimed that the woman was lying and queried why she never told the police that she had had sex with Mutsvangwa before that incident.

The lawyer claimed that the victim was a person of loose morals who had sex in exchange for money.

“Your behaviour is consistent with that of a prostitute, you never called each other with the accused person, bought each other gifts or met during the day but only met at night when you offered your services as a prostitute,” Nkomo said.

“Why did you not resist or defend yourself and after the act. Why did you get into the car of a man you claimed had raped you?

“After doing a thorough background check on you, I discovered that you have a history of harassing men who resist complying with your demands?”

The woman responded: “I only know Matemba who wanted to ditch me after touching and arousing my feelings. We ended up at the police station because I wanted him to have sex with me aida kuti ndiende nezhara yangu yozopedziwa nani (I wanted him to quench my sexual appetite, If I let him go, who would have?” Daily News
