A Zanu PF member of parliament and businessman, Kenneth Musanhi, has bought a $980,000 plane at a time many Zimbabweans are living in abject poverty and businesses are struggling.

Musanhi, the Zanu legislator for Bindura North, recently bought the 12-seater Cessna 208 plane at an auction in Harare.

The plane belonged to Mbada Diamonds which used to mine gems in the Marange area until government took over early this year.

The aircraft was auctioned on behalf of Pungwe Mining, which Mbada owed money, after a High Court order to recover the debt.

Musanhi is a transport mogul and claimed the plane was bought for his company, Central Air Transport Service (CATS).

Many Zanu PF politicians have raised eyebrows over recent high-value purchases.

Local government minister, Saviour Kasukuwere, is among them and is currently building a 50-roomed palace in leafy northern Harare.

Unconfirmed reports indicate that Kasukuwere is planning to sell the house. Nehanda Radio
