Gift Ostallos Siziba, an activist working as the public relations officer at Rural Teachers Union of Zimbabwe (RTUZ), was reportedly abducted by suspected plain clothes servicemen during protests that broke out in Harare on Friday.
An intended electoral reform march bringing together political parties turned violent when police defied a High Court order to let the demonstration proceed.
In an alert, RTUZ said Siziba was snatched from the protesting crowds and driven away in a silver Toyota Corola registered as ABA 9705 near Fidelity Life Tower in the city centre.
“His abductors have taken possession of his mobile phone and a voice recording of one of the male abductors is now available,” reads the RTUZ alert.
It continues: “We will be writing to the UN (United Nations), SADC and AU (African Union) demanding that Mugabe accounts for Gift Ostallos Siziba’s whereabouts.” Nehanda Radio
