Dear UNICEF

RE: This letter is in response to the statement issued on behalf of UNICEF by Chief of Communication, Zimbabwe, Victor Chinyama regarding a Commemoration held for Itai Dzamara the activist who disappeared after being abducted by Government armed men.

Itai Dzamara's children take part in the commemoration march for their missing father
Itai Dzamara’s children take part in the commemoration march for their missing father

This is to address the condemnation by UNICEF of the attendance of Itai Dzamara’s children at their father’s commemoration.

We are grateful that UNICEF is taking an interest in what is going on in Zimbabwe as finally the International Organization is noting that all is not well in Zimbabwe.

Having expressed our gratitude for your interest we respectfully ask that if UNICEF is now actively commenting on abuses they must be clearly aware of the fact that

+ The Commemoration held for Itai Dzamara was not a demonstration. It was therefore unnecessary for the Government of Zimbabwe to dispense Zimbabwe Republic Police to stop a Peaceful Commemoration held in a Public Park.

+ UNICEF should also be aware that remembering our loved ones who are missing or have left us is an age old tradition practiced by families in Zimbabwe and around the world and families including Children attend such commemorations

+UNICEF having take the moral high ground should also comment of the disappearance of Itai Dzamara whose children are now suffering as a direct result of their father’s abduction.

Having combed through public statements made by UNICEF and accepting UNICEF high moral

+ We have YET to see public statement made By UNICEF commenting on the pain inflected on Itai Dzamara’s chilldren by the sudden abduction of their Father.

+ We have YET to see a public statement made BY UNICEF commenting or condemning the incarceration even after an order of release of Linda Masarira a peaceful demonstrate whose FIVE children are not suffering because of abuses of power by the Government

+ We have YET to see a public statement made by UNICEF commenting or condemning Zimbabwe Republic Police when they teargassed and killed a child in Makokoba high density area in Bulawayo in the child’s home.

+ We have YET to see a public statement made BY UNICEF commenting or condemning disruption of classes to bus children to augment depleted numbers at their rallies by Mugabe and his Government

All theses instances listed above are not unique situations in Zimbabwe. The abuses of the average person including children by Mugabe government are well documented.

We will be filling a PETITION to UNICEF for them to exercise EQUAL and FAIR treatment in cases regarding abuses in Zimbabwe.

The Zimbabwean people would like to believe and trust that a Respected Organization like UNICEF is above political control by the Government of Zimbabwe however in Situation such as these we pray and Hope this was a misunderstanding by UNICEF.

We also hope that since UNICEF is concerned about abuses they investigate and comment on other abuses the Zimbabwean People have suffered for the past 36 years and Continue to suffer under the rule of Robert Mugabe. Zimbabweans are constantly being

+ THREATENED

+ ARRESTED

+ ABDUCTED

+ RAPED

+KILLED

As Government Sanctions the above acts for any Zimbabwean Citizens who exercise their constitutional rights to Freedom of Speech.

UNICEF PLEASE do not break the faith the Zimbabwe People have INTERNATIONAL organizations that are supposed to offer us HOPE and SECURITY. THE Zimbabwean CHILDREN AND PEOPLE have LOST SO MUCH and SUFFERED so much.

Respectfully CITIZENS seeking Justice, Fair and Equal Treatment
