Former Vice President and now opposition leader Joice Mujuru on Saturday joined former Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai during a demonstration organised by the Movement for Democratic Change (MDC-T) in Gweru.
The MDC-T has been holding protests countrywide against President Robert Mugabe’s government over the worsening political and economic crisis. The opposition party has now organised demonstrations in Harare, Bulawayo, Mutare, Masvingo and Gweru.
It is the presence of Mujuru, who held hands with Tsvangirai, that will raise hopes that Zimbabwe’s fragmented opposition parties could yet form a coalition to take on Mugabe’s Zanu PF party in the make or break elections in 2018.
