Zimbabwe National Liberation War Veterans Association (ZNLWVA) secretary general, Victor Matemadanda, was on Monday arrested at the Harare magistrates’ court and taken to the Law and Order section.

A source who answered Matemadanda’s phone on Monday afternoon told Nehanda Radio that the war vets leader had not been abducted from his Gokwe home late last week as earlier reported.
“He was arrested by Law and Order details when the Mahiya case adjourned. He was taken to the Law and Order section where he must be helping with investigations. We are not sure when he will be released,” said the war veterans source.
Douglas Mahiya, the ZNLWVA information secretary, was arrested last Thursday and charged with insulting or undermining the authority of the president.
He was released on Monday on $300 bail and was ordered to surrender his passport and stay at his Chitungwiza house.
Charges against Mahiya arose after a recent ex-combatants meeting in Harare where a communique describing Mugabe as a ‘genocidal dictator” was circulated.
It is likely that Matemadanda will face the same charges as his counterpart.
He was accompanied to Harare Central police station by his lawyer, Beatrice Mtetwa, and Chrispen Makedenge, head of the Law and Order section. Nehanda Radio
