Seven armed men stormed the home of Zimbabwe National Liberation War Veterans Association, Secretary for Information and Publicity Douglas Mahiya in Chitungwiza on Wednesday and reportedly held his family hostage including a 6 month old baby.

The Seven men are reported to have arrived at Mahiya’s home driving in a Toyota Vigo and ordered that no one would leave the place. The officers were demanding that Mahiya surrender himself to the police.
The Crisis in Zimbabwe Coalition alert says that phones belonging to Mahiya’s family members were confiscated as well.
Mahiya reported at Law and Order Section at Harare Central and is being represented by Nyika Kanengoni and Partners.
Mahiya has of late been fingered as part of the so called rogue war veterans within Zanu PF who crafted the communique that divorced the Zimbabwe National Liberation War Veterans Association from the leadership of President Mugabe.
Police spokesperson Charity Charamba confirmed the arrest saying “Yes, he has been arrested and investigations are going on and we will furnish you with more details later.”
