Zifa insist suspended Warriors assistant coach Nation Dube will not be allowed to take charge of his Castle Lager Premier League side Hwange unless he has been cleared.
Dube was suspended together with Zifa board member for development Edzai Kasinauyo for their alleged involvement in a plot to fix Zimbabwe’s 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Swaziland later this month .
“The first step was to suspend him from the national team and the second step we are currently doing is writing a letter to his employers Hwange notifying them of the seriousness of the allegations,” Zifa CEO Jonathan Mashingaidze told the Daily News.
“He will have to appear before a disciplinary hearing and it is our recommendation that he should not be involved with anything to do with football before he is cleared.
“If he is employed as a plumber or a fitter and turner by Hwange then he can continue with that work but in terms of anything to do with football, he will not be allowed as it will compromise the disciplinary hearings.”
Mashingaidze said he will be meeting with the Zifa Disciplinary Committee to discuss the start of the proceedings against the accused individuals.
Premier Soccer League CEO Kenny Ndebele said regarding Dube’s position as Hwange coach they will stand guided by Zifa.
“Zifa is the supreme body governing football in Zimbabwe. As the PSL we stand guided by what Zifa, Caf and ultimately what Fifa says,” Ndebele said.
“In this case, for all the coaches to work in the Premier League they need to have a coaching licence which is only issued by Zifa not the PSL.
“Be it a player, coach or any official they need to have been accredited or licensed by Zifa first before we can allow them to take part in the league.”
Hwange chairman Joseph Zulu was not reachable for comment. Daily News
