The Ojuelegba hit-maker, who is currently on tour in the United States of America, revealed on Twitter that Zimbabwe will be part of his African tour.

Tweeted Wizkid: “Cameroon, Senegal, Zambia and Zimbabwe!! # Team Starboy bringing the wave to you.”

The Daily News could not immediately establish the promoter who is bringing the 25-year-old Nigerian musician, who was born Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun, to Harare.

Blacktoe TV’s Nyasha Madzima, who claims to be the official media partner of the concert, was continually unreachable yesterday.

An incomplete poster of the gig posted on social media by Madzima shows that ordinary tickets will cost $20, VIP tickets $50 with VVIP tickets going for $100.

According to online site Three Men On a Boat, Wizkid will share the stage with Jnr Brown, Cal _Vin, Judgment Yard, Mzoe 7, DJ Rax. DJ Storm. DJ Tafmiles. DJ Mellow T and Cynthia Mare. The April 8 concert will see sworn rivals Jnr Brown, and Cal_Vin share the stage.

Wizkid started singing at age 11, releasing a seven-track album titled Lil Prinz (2001). From then on, he released a string of hits that include Final, Show You the Money, In My Bed and Love My baby.

But it was the 2014 hit Ojuelegba that earned him unprecedented international acclaim. The song was so big that it attracted the attention of Canadian music star Drake. The two linked up and remixed the hit after expressing mutual admiration over Instagram.

Apart from being a music icon in his homeland, the award-winning Wizkid is also regarded as a style icon. Vogue fashion magazine recently described him as “Nigeria’s Best-Dressed Pop Star.”

“Wizkid, who at 25 years old already adorns Pepsi ads in his native country, has become almost as known for his trendsetting style as his sound, and his thoughtful and fun approach to wardrobe: clean lines and minimalism; a mix of fresh street wear with traditional Nigerian clothes; and bold, bright accessories,” read part of the Vogue article.

Wizkid’s forthcoming concert follows that of his classmate and rival Davido who held his maiden concert in Zimbabwe at Belgravia Sports Club in August last year. Daily News
