In an interview the troubled mother could not divulge the information which led to the fist fight but only said she was against her son’s idea.

“If only you know how painful it is my son to hear that your child is marrying a woman who is already pregnant with another man’s child. Even in our culture you know the elders will not tolerate that and I don’t know what got into him as there are many girls out there.

“Akatangirwa kuroora nemunun’una wake asi haatangire pakutora mukadzi ane mwana wemumwe, ndizvo zvandakaramba akandirova akapwanya mawindow emba yangu aya,” she said.

Simba is said to be working at a farm in Beatrice but has the time to visit his mother time and again. It is being alleged that her second born child who is 28 years old and younger brother to Simba did not want his mother to have anything to do with the love birds as he said that the decision to marry the pregnant woman lies with his brother.

The woman who was almost close to tears found it hard to disclose the everything but sympathized with her son when the mob wanted to enforce instant justice on him.

“I begged the mob not to assault my son as they wanted to beat him, moyo wekubereka mwanangu ndiwo wakandibata. Vanhu vaida kumurova asi ndakapfugama pasi kukumbira kuti vamuregerere nekuti aiva akanganisa.

“I just told them to reprimand him and not beat him as that does not change anything,” said Gogo mai Simba.

She added; “My son is a good person and we have no problems, I don’t know what got into him. The problem is his wife, whenever he goes to her that is when everything goes bad, he becomes a changed man.

“I will be traveling to my home place (Wednesday) to tell my relatives about this so that they can sit down with him.”

The woman had no kind words for her daughter in law whom she blamed for influencing her son.

“Mukadzi wake ndiye anomukanganisa, haatimboite uye akatomboripiswa mombe nhatu nembudzi imwe nekundirova akandibvisa mazino kwaakaita,” she said.
