With allegations of deliberately infecting her former lover’s two year old baby with HIV virus dropped, the mother of the child still believes her son was abused.

Tracy Hari of Waterfalls exclusively told H Metro that she is still convinced that her son was physically abused although it will take forensics to reveal the perpetrator.

The HIV claims against model Tafadzwa Mushunje that were duly dismissed, were not her main concern when the legal battle started last month.

The 32 year old Tracy feels that the observations done by a senior paediatrician at Harare Central Hospital on February 23 this year are a true reflection of what happened to her son.

Tracy said that her lawyers are handling the matter concerning the child.

“I still believe that my child was abused. It is difficult to prove it at this point but I believe that someone out there abused my son somehow.

“Tafadzwa, in the company of Collin (three child’s father), would bring my son at midnight. This would be after Collin picked him from home to go out.

“I took my son for medical examination on February 23 and a senior pediatrician (name given) said that physical abuse cannot be ruled out.

“If a qualified person can say that then who am I to deny that? As a parent my duty is to make sure I protect my child and give him maximum care,” she said.

On the issue of Tafadzwa, Tracy said the dropping of charges against Tafadzwa does not necessarily mean that she lied in her report.

Tracy says she was not the one who “manufactured” the story which went viral on social networks.

“We have a judging society. I know people are quick to compare me and Tafadzwa.

“The society would then make some inferences basing on what would be happening and what they read in the press. I know that people believe that I made false allegations against Tafadzwa to the police.

“People are saying that I might be jealous of Tafadzwa for having an affair with Collin. I knew Tafadzwa for four months before this case arose plus Collin had girlfriends before she came in and she will not be his last girlfriend.

“She also knows where I stay since she would come with Collin to drop off my son. What I did was meant to protect my child. I could not afford to sit when such claims were being made. All I had to do was to make sure that my child was protected, of course, as a mother I had every reason to do that,” she said.

Tracy said that she is still in the dark over who came up with the story on social media. I don’t even know who started the whole thing but I suspect someone close to one of us might be behind the whole story.

“Before I took the matter to the police, a girl who said she was called Maud phoned and told me that Collin had left my son in Tafadzwa’s custody in Glen Norah. The girl told me that she was not happy about what Collin had done since Tafadzwa was hitting my son.

“After a week, I received another phone call and the woman said that I was an evil woman. The woman said ‘after warning you about your son you’re still leaving him with Tafadzwa. I decided to stop Collin from taking my child after receiving that call.

“A friend of mine then told me that there was a story on the internet that was talking about my son. I searched for the story, printed it and took it to the police. That is how Tafadzwa got arrested. It’s not true that I raised the allegations or falsely implicated her as is being said. All I did was try and protect my son,” she said. H Metro
