CHITUNGWIZA – A city cop reportedly took the law into her own hands after going on a rampage hitting and biting her mother-in-law after a dispute over money.

Vimbai Mari, stationed at Braeside police station but living in Chitungwiza, reportedly hit her 60 year-old mother-in-law, Agnes Murambiwa, with a dinner plate before biting her on the hand after the latter had demanded money to pay her domestic worker in Beatrice.
Gogo Murambiwa said her daughter in law battered her after she demanded money to pay her domestic worker.
“My daughter-in-law can be violent at times; when she assaulted me I sustained injuries and I am being treated at Chitungwiza Central Hospital.”
She has a short temper; she assaulted me for no reason I am not happy with what she did. She used her dinner plates and teeth to attack me after I demanded US$50 from her husband which I wanted to use in paying our domestic.”
Agnes said she forgave her daughter-in-law
“I am a Christian I don’t keep grudges. My daughter-in-law asked for forgiveness and we are now in good books.”
Its now thought Gogo Murambiwa withdrew her case against Mari at Chitungwiza police station after the latter agreed to pay her US$400.
Mari counter accused Gogo Murambiwa of assaulting her saying she could not lodge a police complaint to safeguard the relationship.
“My mother-in- law is the one who attacked me after I gave her US$ 10 from the money she was expecting .” Said Mari ” I was about to leave for night duty and in the middle of the scuffle I ran away to my pastor’s house where I slept.”
“She is against my pregnancy saying if I give my husband many children she will not receive enough support from us. I was supposed to lodge a complaint with police but to safeguard our relationship I did not, only to be arrested after she rushed ahead of me to lodge a complaint with police against me. ”
“My husband witnessed the whole scuffle and he promised to stand by the truth if the case was to go before the court of law. After she heard that my husband was to stand by me she agreed to withdraw the case and demanded US $400 and we put it in writing after I promised to pay half of it today (yesterday.)
“It affected me much since I am pregnant and as we speak my husband is still to buy preparation for the baby we are expecting next month. We are ever quarrelling with my husband because of my mother-in-law from the time I fell pregnant,” said Mari. H Metro
