Tsvangirai property attached: Cheap attempt at dramatization says spokesman

Another attempt again today to attach property at President Tsvangirai’s Highlands home and at Harvest House. The Deputy Sheriff, again with riot police and the state media in tow, scaled the perimeter wall to the President’s Highlands home and even broke keys to the gate.

They entered and while in the process of taking away office furniture, they were stopped on grounds of the sufficient legal safeguards around the labour issue that did not allow the process to continue.

At Harvest house, there was even an attempt to take any vehicle outside the MDC headquarters. And once again, police, the ZBC and other state media had been brought in to shoot a cheap propaganda movie.

For some of us, what is grossly worrying is the cheap attempt at dramatization and the dragging of Tsvangirai into the whole matter when an inter-pleader was filed at the High Court stating that he is not party to the legal dispute between former employees and the party.

Surely, if a Zanu PF employee takes the party to court, does that warrant the mobilization of the press and riot police to attach the property of the party’s First secretary at State House o at his Borrowdale house, even if he is not party to the dispute?

For some of us, it is the dramatization and the attempt at shooting a needless, low cost movie around Tsvangirai that is worrying. The drama is unnecessarily clouding the otherwise legitimate case of former employees of the party who have every right to approach to the courts.
