By Helen Kadirire

HARARE – Former Zanu PF Harare provincial chairman Amos Midzi’s love child Chido Makazhu, 20, has claimed that she is being deliberately sidelined from her father’s estate.

Midzi was found dead on June 9 in his car at his Mnandi Farm in Beatrice.

In court records, handwritten agreements with Makazhu indicate that Midzi promised to take care of the young woman.

Three agreements were signed which indicated Midzi would provide a house for the girl’s mother and that he would pay for all her needs including paying school fees.

“I agree that the child Chido would use her mother’s maiden name Makazhu and would provide for her every need,” reads an agreement that was signed in 2001.

The girl’s mother argued that if all of Midzi’s property was being claimed to be attached, then Makazhu will be disenfranchised from her father’s estate.

She argues that at least one of Midzi’s five houses should be enough for the child.

Since Midzi’s death, the girl has not gone to school.

She is set to miss her Advanced Level registration deadline of June 23, according to the mother.

The girl, a straight A student, had to be transferred from Westridge School in Belvedere after a bout of rheumatoid arthritis forced her to skip the whole of 2014 academic year.

“Now she is at Speciss College studying Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology, hoping to become a doctor or pilot, but the dreams could be shattered if her school and examination fees are not paid,” the girl’s mother said.

“Apart from her fees being in arrears, the landlord at our rented house in Hatfield gave us notice of which two months have already passed. Soon the girl will be homeless.” Daily News
