CHITUNGWIZA – Former opposition Movement for Democratic Change (MDC) MP for Chitungwiza North, Fidelis Mhashu (73) is alive and well contrary to reports that he had passed away.

The Financial Gazette newspaper reported on Monday that the former Minister for National Housing and Social Amenities in the coalition government had died in Norton in the morning.
But speaking to Nehanda Radio, the MDC-T national spokesman Obert Gutu said;
“Hon. Fidelis Mhashu is actually alive and kicking. I don’t know who generated the false rumour about his death.”
Several other sources who spoke to Nehanda Radio confirmed that the outspoken former legislator has not been well for some time.
Three years ago Mhashu was hauled before a traditional court in his home area Mhondoro for engaging in incestuous relationships with two of his nieces, both of which resulted in the birth of four children.
Mhashu who later dumped both women, admitted to the unlawful unions, claiming that he had been driven to incest by his wife’s departure to Britain in 2003. He said the women, one of whom has since died, had actually become his wives.
