Munyaradzi Chirume, who resides at Gel Court in Harare’s Avenues area, appeared before the Harare Magistrates Court charged with attempted murder.

The 26 year old was asked not to plead when he appeared before magistrate Tendai Mahwe.

He was remanded in custody to July 14 and was advised to approach the High Court for bail application.

Chirume is standing accused of stabbing his wife, Joyce Chitewe, after she asked him for money to maintain their children.

Sebastian Mutizirwa, prosecuting, had it that on June 28 at around 2pm, Joyce visited Chirume at his apartment at Gel Court situated at the corner of 8th and Samora Machel Avenue.

Reports were that Joyce wanted to ask for money for the upkeep of their children.

The court heard that upon seeing his lover, Chirume armed himself with a small knife and an empty bottle.

Allegations were that Chirume stabbed his wife on her left hand with a knife.

He also reportedly went on to break the bottle and stabbed Joyce on her breast leaving a deep wound.
