Two years off the road: Mberengwa Ambulance (Citizen Picture)

This ambulance which is meant to be serving the Mberengwa District has been off the road for over two years. In July 2004 the Ministry of Health and Child Welfare in the area received nine ox-drawn ambulances and three regular ambulances from the United Nations Children’s Fund.

The three regular ambulances – purchased with the support from the Swedish
government – were to be used at Chipinge, Mberengwa and Beitbridge district
hospitals to strengthen outreach and clinic referral operations.

But as this picture from a Nehanda Citizen Reporter shows everything being run by President Robert Mugabe’s regime is facing collapse and ruin.
