Kaizer Chiefs coach Stuart Baxter says Amakhosi “are still looking for a number 9 to replace Kingston Nkhatha”.

Although Nkhatha – who joined SuperSport United in January – was not the most prolific striker during his stay at Naturena, the Zimbabwean’s physicality, work ethic and movement caused headaches for opposing defences.
Baxter feels Siphelele Mthembu is the most similar to Nkhatha, with the ex-Platinum Stars targetman reasserting his worth with a hat-trick against Edu Sport in the Nedbank Cup on Saturday.
“We are still looking for a number 9 to replace Kingston Nkhatha; someone who can link-up the play between midfield and attack,” Baxter told Chiefs’ official website.
“[David] Zulu is not that kind of striker. He played at 10 today, but I am not sure if that is his best role. It will still take a while for David to settle at Chiefs.”
Katlego Mphela also scored on the weekend, but Baxter says ‘Killer’ is still some way off full fitness.
“Killer scored a good goal. However, he’s still a bit behind with his fitness regime and game experience. That last aspect is not easy to solve with the many competitive games coming up that we need to win. There is little room for experiments. Yes, I will try to rotate, but we also want to stay competitive and keep the rhythm.
“Coming back to the number 9 role, Siphelele is the most like Kingston. However, it’s important that we tackle Kingston’s loss as a team.” KickOff.com
