SOUTH AFRICA – Police were called to an AmaZulu training session outside Durban’s Moses Mabhida Stadium Wednesday to prevent about a dozen of the club’s supporters from physically removing captain Carlington Nyadombo.

The supporters accuse Nyadombo of working with the club’s enemies to use muthi, that the fans claim is the reason Usuthu find themselves at the bottom of the Absa Premiership.

A group of supporters was prevented from approaching the club’s training ground, where coach Steve Barker was drilling the side ahead of tomorrow’s Nedbank Cup first round derby against Arrows.

One of the supporters, who asked not to be named, said they decided to come to help the club get rid of Nyadombo.

“He has been seen holding meetings with [known enemies of] the club’s management . and planting something on the ground on match days. This has resulted in the club not registering wins even when they were supposed to walk over their opponents.

“On Sunday, for example [in the 3-0 away loss to Bloemfontein Celtic], the club gave away a penalty, had a player sent off and conceded an own goal.”

AmaZulu spokesman Philani Mabaso was unavailable to comment. Sowetan
