Major boost for Tsholotsho Stadium construction

Plans for the construction of Tsholotsho Stadium have gone a gear up with the Minister of Information, Media and Broadcasting Services, Professor Jonathan Moyo being tasked to lead the fundraising team.

ZBC’s Matabeleland North Bureau Chief Sijabuliso Ndhlovu reports that the project which was expected to be completed this month will now be finished in July due to technical issues that need to be addressed.

The need to construct a 5 000-seater stadium at the Tsholotsho District Centre was mooted when Tsholotsho Football Club got promoted from Division One to the Premier Soccer League.

A report was presented at the stakeholders meeting in Tsholotsho by the Chairperson of the Steering Committee on the progress made so far and participants who accompanied Professor Moyo to the meeting pledged their support for the project.

Professor Moyo and Matabeleland North Minister of State Ambassador Cain Mathema urged the Tsholotsho community to work together to ensure the success of the project.

Special teams have been tasked to compile reports on the scope of the work, including technical design, costing and funding.

The project has attracted the attention of the Ministry of Local Government, Public Works and National Housing which sent a team of engineers and surveyors to assist the local steering committee.

Tsholotsho stadium has been declared a national project as it meets national policy planning objectives.

Meanwhile, Tsholotsho Football Club will be using White City stadium in Bulawayo for its matches and training sessions.
