Two police officers have been shot and killed by a detainee inside the Johannesburg Central Police Station’s holding cells following a hostage drama that lasted nearly five hours.

SABC reported that the hostage siege began around 11pm on Friday night when a man arrested for the illegal possession of dagga was brought to the Booysens Police’s holding cells. It seemed he was not searched before being taken to the holding cells.
The detainee shot and killed the first police officer while the second officer was wounded and died hours later. A third police officer managed to escape, sounding the alarm.
The hostage drama ended around 4am. TimesLive.co.za
