Harare water shortages to go – Mahachi

The Harare City Council Town Clerk Dr Tendai Mahachi says there will not be any more temporary water shortages in Harare due to shutdowns of Morton Jaffray Water Works.

Dr Mahachi said the rehabilitation currently taking place has paved way for the installation of highly efficient pumps that will produce an additional 160 mega litres of water.

He said the development will see western suburbs receiving water at least four times a week.

It will also come as a relief for residents of Borrowdale, Vainona, Greystone Park and other northern suburbs who had gone for more than 10 years without running water.

The city council says these areas will start receiving water at least three times a week starting on the 25th of this month.

The installation of new pumps has been enabled by the US$144 million loan facility from China and the US$9.5 million grand from ZIMFUND. ZBC
