Castle Lager Premier League 2014 Soccer Star of the Year finalist and Caps United anchor, Tendai Samanja, has dismissed claims by the Zvishavane-based FC Platinum that he had already put pen to paper and officially joined them for the 2015 season.

In an interview with The Zimbabwe Mail, the midfielder distanced himself from the reported deal with the Platinum miners despite not ruling out the possibility of such a move at the end of this month.

Samanja’s contract with Caps United expires on December 31 and he has already made it clear that he will not be renewing his contract with his current employers.

“I was surprised to read in the newspapers that I had signed a contract with FC Platinum. I am yet to sign for any team.  I know they (FC Platinum) want my services, but I am still to make my mind on my next move,” said Samanja.

“I am still to sign a contract with any local team, as for now I still remain a Caps United player as my contract with Caps United expires on December 31.”

The Green Machine anchor, who made it on the Castle Lager Soccer Stars calendar, was recently reported to have signed a new contract with Real Platinum Play as the side prepare for the Orange Caf Confederations Cup.

The continental showdown kicks off early next year with over 30 clubs competing for African pride in a second-string competition after the Orange Champions League.

Taking part in such a high-profile competition would be appealing for the player who tested continental competition with Monomotapa in 2009 and having to do it again with former coach, Norman Mapeza, is something he has not ruled out.

“I will let you know on my next move as I still have to weigh options and offers that I have received. But if FC Platinum offers me a better contract then possibly I can leave for Zvishavane. At the moment there are teams here in the capital that have offered me good contracts and also (other teams) beyond borders,” said the soccer star finalist.

After Taurai Mangwiro was last week unveiled as the new head coach at Harare City, it is reported that the former Caps United gaffer is set to raid some MaKepeKepe key players with Samanja being linked with a possible move to the Sunshine Boys.

Asked  whether he was heading for Harare City to join his former coach, Samanja could neither deny nor confirm that decision.

“I have been approached by many teams, but as it stands right now I am not leaving Harare and I am likely going to conclude my next move in the next few days, which is possibly before the end of this week,” said Samanja. The Zimbabwe Mail
