HARARE – Big Brother Hotshots Zimbabwe representative DJ Butterfly, who had been heavily tipped to make an early exit from the reality show on Sunday, survived the axe after securing support from two countries.

Zimbabwe and Malawi united forces to save her despite her unpopularity with fellow housemates and fans who have criticised her for being lazy and boring.

The Power FM DJ’s survival  resulted in Rwanda’s Frankie and Permithias from Namibia getting the boot from Africa’s most popular reality show whose winner will walk away with $300 000.

The Sunday vote was the first popularity test for the Hararian who had, until then, been safe from eviction and nomination since she walked in the house. DJ Butterfly was always part of task-winning teams which are immune from nomination.

Last Sunday, she was up for eviction because Tanzanian housemate Idris, who was Head of House, had added her to the list of nominees in line with the show’s rules.

Butterfly, who got the lowest vote from viewers in the first week of the reality show, could still get the boot this coming Sunday if she fails to up her game.

The Zimbabwean has been nominated by three of the BBA housemates as a candidate for eviction this weekend.

She clearly has to pull up her socks in terms of impressing the audience as she needs more country votes for her to withstand competition from the reality contest’s big guns.

Zimbabwe’s other representative JJ has survived more than twice and has been touted by fellow housemates and fans alike as one of the favourites for the $300 000 top prize. Daily News
