The High Court has sentenced a Kadoma Zanu PF youth activist to 20 years in jail after finding him guilty of murdering an MDC member in 2008 in the aftermath of the June presidential runoff election.

Justice Easter Muremba on Thursday handed down Stabliser Kadafi, also known as ‘Chuck Norris’, an effective 20-year jail term while his co-accused Nobert Muzhingi, Thabani Mashonganyika, Sikhumbuzo Madhuveko and Mangisi Mutandavari were earlier sentenced to 15-years in prison each by Justice Felistas Chatukuta in a seperate court hearing.
In passing judgement, Justice Muremba said Kadafi needed a stiffer sentence than his co-accused as he was the ring leader when the offence was committed.
According to the state, sometime in August 2008 Kadafi, in the company of his co-accused, with whom he was staying with at Buffalo and Tiger Mine in Kadoma, masterminded the deceased, John Max’s death.
Max, who was an MDC activist, was labelled a sell-out. It is alleged that on the fateful day, the accused took Max to a nearby bush at Buffalo and Tiger Mine, through Kadafi’s initiative.
Max was ordered to lie down as the gang battered him all over his body using switches and accusing him of being a political sell out because he was opposing Zanu PF during the 2008 presidential run off election.
The accused further laid it on Max for stealing their gold ore.
According to the state, after assaulting Max, the accused ordered him to immediately vacate his area of residence but Max later died as a result of the injuries sustained.
In his defence outline, Kadafi denied ever being behind the fatal assault of Max, laying the blame on his co-accused.
He claimed that he was the one who had actually ordered the gang to stop assaulting the accused. Kadafi first became a fugitive from justice before he was arrested and brought to court. The Zimbabwe Mail
