Sungura ace Alick Macheso’s daughter, Sharon, is possessed with her late grandfather’s spirit and exudes sudden outburst of anger and violence that is frightening, her husband Kudakwashe Munetsi has said.

Munetsi is facing charges of contravening the domestic violence Act after he allegedly bashed his wife last month. He is out of custody on $50 bail.
He told Magistrate Tavonga Mtetwa that his wife, Sharon, reacted angrily after he had questioned her of the whereabouts of gifts and money the pair had received at their wedding ceremony. The pair tied the knot in August at a ceremony graced by various entertainers and socialites.
“She started raising her voice. I knew that when angry, she assaults me so I decided to leave, but she pulled me back saying l would go nowhere,” said Munetsi.
“That is when l wrestled with her so that she could let go. I managed to push her down and then sought refuge in the toilet.
“When she gets angry, she becomes violent. She is also possessed and sniffs snuff the moment she takes snuff she becomes possessed with her grandfather’s spirit.”
Munetsi also said Sharon was obsessed with media attention and enjoys being in the limelight. He told the court that he was actually the victim of the assault and not the other way round.
“She is a woman who seeks attention and whenever you try to speak to her, she runs to the media,” he said.
“I suffered emotional and psychological abuse as a result of her, but there was no way l could report my wife to the police.”
At that juncture, prosecutor Gayton Vhiriri told the accused that he was coming up with a tailor-made defence to suit his case.
“I put it before you that all this you are saying is an afterthought and tailor made for the court to sympathise with you, though you are the perpetrator of violence,” she said.
Munetsi also told the magistrate that Sharon’s pregnancy was news to him, adding that he had not been sleeping with his wife since she had genital warts.
The accused’s defence counsel, Charles Chikore, told the magistrate that Sharon had shown that she was not a truthful witness as exhibited in contradicting statements. In his closing submissions, Chikore also highlighted that the complainant’s narration of events was questionable and that her actions while in the witness stand had sold her out.
“How can one come to court claiming to have been butchered left, right and centre and still afford to smile,” said Chikore.
However, Vhiriri said:” It is clear before this court that the complainant was, indeed, assaulted by the accused person as she had to seek medical attention for injuries sustained.”
Judgement on the matter has been set for November 11.
According to court documents, the accused blamed himself and the complainant for excessive spending and for renovations being instituted at their Chitungwiza home, a wedding gift from the accused’s father-in law.
The accused also allegedly told Sharon that instead of her father chipping in with funds to renovate the couple’s house, the money should be used to buy a smart car for him.
However, Sharon advised Munetsi to look for a job rather than rely on handouts from Macheso.
Angered by his wife’s reaction, Munetsi allegedly picked up a cup and threw it at the complainant with the intention of striking her.
After realising that he had missed, Munetsi allegedly manhandled Sharon, assaulting her with open hands all over the body. Sharon was recently granted a protection order against her husband. The Zimbabwe Mail
