HARARE – Dynamos midfielder Stephen Alimenda has challenged his title chasing teammates to maintain their “hunger” ahead of today’s clash with struggling Chapungu at Rufaro Stadium.

The Glamour Boys are in the haunt for a fourth straight league title and are currently in control of their destiny as they enjoy a two point lead at the top of the table.

With five matches remaining, it seems to be getting hot at the top of the Castle Premiership standings each passing week as tow other teams ZPC Kariba and CAPS United still in with a chance of catching DeMbare.

“Our remaining matches are all important including the one against Chapungu,” Alimenda said.

“Chapungu are no easy opponents; they play a physical game and they are a unit. We need to adopt the right attitude and work as a team like what we normally we do.

“Everyone is aware we lost in the reverse fixture in Gweru and we cannot afford to lose this one especially at this crucial stage of the season. We have done our homework and we can’t let them collect six points from us.

“We need to keep the momentum going. We can’t drop points in any way because there is stiff competition for the title this year. We need to take each game as it comes. We also don’t want to put ourselves under unnecessary pressure.”

Alimenda has been one of the standout players for DeMbare this season marshalling the Glamour Boys’ midfield with aplomb.

The former CAPS United and Highlanders midfielder has excelled this season and seems not to look back, keeping it very simple.

He added: “As Dynamos we are always ready and the break we had last weekend have little effect on our game. We never stopped training and we are well prepared for the match.”

Chapungu are also aware of the need to collect maximum points. The air force side are not safe from relegation as they sit tenth on the log table with 32 points five better than Triangle who occupy the last relegation slot.

Chapungu are unbeaten at home this season but they have been poor on the road. The John Nyikadzino’s men lost 1-0 to Shabanie Mine in their last match and will be hoping to bounce back against Dynamos. Daily News
