Fungisai tries hand at acting

Popular singer Fungisai Mashavave is trying her hand at acting after scooping a role in the forth-coming feature film Chinhoyi 7.

This would be Fungisai’s debut movie.

The singer was upbeat about her capabilities, saying she has always been an actor in her music videos.

“It is something new, yes, but I have always acted when I shot my videos. I hope I will be able to pull it through,” said the soft-spoken singer.

More than 100 local actors have been selected to take part in an internationally acclaimed movie titled Chinhoyi 7 which is currently being shot in the country.

Canadian based producer, Moses Matanda said he had roped in talented local actors and international artistes are already in the country.

“We have 100 local artistes who are going to be part of the supporting cast. The international artistes arrived last week,” he said.

The movie is going to be shot at different locations across the country, including Victoria Falls, Domboshava and Harare, among others.

He said the movie is going to correct some misconception about the war of liberation.

“Chinhoyi 7 is going be the platform which will correct and educate the world about the sacrifice sons and daughters of Zimbabwe laid to liberate themselves from colonisation,” Matanda said.

“It’s a world class movie written by a highly qualified script writer, actor, director and a true Zimbabwean. The movie will not only correct the already distorted Zimbabwean history but also change the movie landscape, both locally and overseas.

“State-of-the-art equipment has been acquired to compete with Hollywood standards, as well as with world renowned actors from the US, UK, Canada, Denmark and Romania. The movie is going to make every Zimbabwean proud and know where Zimbabwe came from.

“Special thanks to the Zimbabwe ministry of Information, ZBC Holdings, Zimbabwe’s Ambassador to Canada, Her Excellency Florence Chideya and the Zimbabwe Defence Forces for facilitating the preparations,” he added. The Zimbabwe Mail
