Truth be told MDC-T will be shooting itself in the foot if it is to go on with their congress this coming October.
Its common knowledge that the main reason why MDC-T decided to bring closer the congress date from 2016 to 2014 was to solve the power struggles bedevilling the party.
While it can be justified that power struggles and anarchy needs to be solved but force marching people into another congress isn’t a good panacea.
My only advice to MDC-T is before thinking about having a congress let them first iron out the main issues that has been causing these so called splits in the first place.
It is a fact that the continual and endless splits in Zimbabwe main opposition camp will not help ordinary people of Zimbabwe who are suffering from Zanu-PF misrule but will just prolong the New Zimbabwe that we all want.
It’s also obvious that a fragmented opposition will mean that Zanu-PF will be with us till thy kingdom come and today I am now saying it i.e. a fragmented opposition in 2018 election will mean victory for Zanu-PF which directly translates to more unemployment, more company closures, more potholes, less water running in our taps etc.
The only solution to the problems bedevilling our democracy is that an all-inclusive congress needs to be arranged (not in a hurried manner as MDC-T is currently doing) whereby all democratic forces in the civic society now need to be co-opted in the mainstream MDC.
The likes of Lovemore Madhuku, Job Sikhala, Roy Bennett, Welshman Ncube, and on the economic front people like Mthuli Ncube, Nkosana Moyo, Ben Magara, S’fiso Dabengwa, Strive Masiyiwa etc. need it be co-opted in the mainstream opposition politics.
Let it be known that MDC is a people’s party that doesn’t belong to anyone but to the people of Zimbabwe. No political party or a politician has monopoly over Zimbabwe opposition politics. An ideal and workable model that can bring up change in Zimbabwe look like this.
President (I am not yet sure), Vice President (Welshman Ncube), National Chairman (Simba Makoni), Secretary General (Tendai Biti), Organizing Secretary (Lovemore Madhuku), National Spokesman (Jennie Williams), Director of Election (Job Sikhala), Treasurer General (Lovemore Moyo), Women Chairperson (Thokozani Khupe) Youth Chairperson ( Nelson Chamisa).
