As Knowledge Musona’s future seems closer to being settled, the Siya crew has been informed that Kaizer Chiefs are still favourites to land his signature.
The speedy forward spent last season on loan at Amakhosi, where he started 16 league games and managed 10 goals in all competitions.
He suffered an injury in the latter stages of the campaign and many attributed Chiefs’ losing out on the title partly due to his departure. He is contract to German Bundesliga side Hoffenheim, but it is an open secret that Chiefs are looking to keep him for the 2014/15 season.
As reported by the crew, he has been training with Spanish side Granada to keep his fitness levels up after recovering from injury, and now the matter of his future is expected to be wrapped up in the next couple of days.
Sources close to the talks are adamant that although it could cost them big money, Chiefs are fighting hard to lure him back to their Naturena camp.
The Bundesliga will be commencing on 22 August and Hoffenheim’s preparations for the season have begun in earnest and it is not yet clear if they will be keeping Musona.
However, if they decide to sell him, at this stage Chiefs are favourites and Musona will be more than happy to come back to a club where he has made a name for himself.
The next week or two could spring a surprise or two regarding Musona’s future, as is always the case in transfer dealings, but Chiefs are holding out and hoping that they get their man. Soccer Laduma
