Seven people died on the spot while five of them were seriously injured when a commuter omnibus driver lost control and rammed into a tree at Chinhamo shops along the Seke Road.
According to reports the commuter omnibus was travelling from Harare to Chitungwiza. All those injured were taken to Chitungwiza General Hospital while the bodies of those who died were taken to Parirenyatwa Hospital mortuary.
